Sourdough Starter Instructions

Stop over complicating it and start your starter today!

Ingredients

Method

Turn cooking mode on

Step 1

In a clean glass jar, mix 1/2 cup flour and 1/4 cup water until smooth. Cover loosely with a cloth or lid to allow airflow. Let it sit at room temperature.

Step 2

Repeat this feeding process once per day for Days 1-2 without discarding.

Step 3

On Days 3-7, discard half of the starter before feeding. You can move to a clean jar if you would like.

Step 4

Feed with 1/2 cup flour and 1/4 cup water once daily. Stir well, cover loosely, and let it sit.

Step 5

By Day 7, the starter should be bubbly, slightly tangy, and doubling in size within 4-6 hours after feeding. At this point, it’s ready for baking!

Step 6

Important: Do not put discard down your drain.
